Queer Sharing Circle

MAC Counselling are proud to be launching a queer sharing circle from our Clydebank location, beginning this month!

We believe that the queer community deserve to have a safe and inclusive space where LGBT+ topics and issues can be explored and discussed, and stories can be shared. We want to create an environment where queer people can meet up, be heard, and feel valued. If you identify is queer or part of the LGBT+ community, we’d love to hold space with you and give you a platform to tell your stories.

We’re sure you might have some questions, so here are some answers that may help…

What will it look like?
We’re creating a relaxed and laid-back atmosphere, in a comfortable and calming setting. Bring along a mug and we’ll provide the tea and coffee!

What will be involved?
Each evening will begin at looking at a subject matter that is relevant within the queer community, and you’ll have the opportunity to share your experiences. You will have the chance to ask the other participants questions and educational soundbites throughout the session, so that you have the opportunity to learn and develop, as well as be heard.

I’m not keen on sharing, do I need to talk?
Absolutely not – if you are more comfortable listening than you are talking, that’s ok. This is a space for you to feel comfortable and welcome, and you won’t be forced to do anything you don’t want to.

When and where is it being held?
We will be meeting at our Clydebank therapy space.

The address is:
Titan Business Centre
Aurora Avenue
Clydebank
G81 1BF

It’s a short walk from Clydebank train station and Clydebank bus terminus. It also has lots of free parking.

The first session is scheduled for Thursday 15th August at 7pm til 9pm.

How much will it cost me?
We understand that financial struggles are an issue for many people, and that’s why we’ve decided to run this event free of charge. You are more than welcome to make a donation to help us with running costs.

If you would like to come along, please drop us an email to info@maccounselling.uk so we can save you a seat – we intend on keeping these sessions small and intimate, so don’t miss your chance!

You and Your Mental Health

I have been considering the importance of Mental Health and how this impacts ourselves, from a holistic point of view. This includes family relationships, friendship circles, how we see ourselves, how we think about ourselves, and this can also impact our work relationships, and abilities for our job.

What is trauma?

‍What if I said we have all experienced Trauma? This is a bold statement but there are misconceptions around the use of the word ‘trauma’- what it means and what society deems to be a ‘trauma.’ When we consider the Greek origins of the word ‘trauma’ meaning ‘wound,’ we may find we can reflect less upon what may or may not be considered to be a trauma and more about what has created wounding in our heart and soul? This blog looks at The 3 Es of Trauma – The Event, TheExperience and The Effects. My intention is to offer a perspective which is person-centred and focused on the uniqueness of trauma for each individual.
