Who am I?
Friends and family would describe me as funny and caring and loving. I would describe myself as a good listener. I am so passionate about counselling because I have had counselling myself and it has totally changed my life. My role as counsellor is to be 100% there for somebody in the room and just walk alongside them and help them through their challenges.
I think the most important thing when you are in a room with a client is to be genuine and honest. Being myself with that person helps them open up and they feel listened to.
My aim is to give my clients a broad spectrum of tools which allow them to look at a situation from a different lens and which they can use to make changes and achieve their goals. They can then carry these tools with them throughout their lives. I want to give my clients the power to move forward in a positive way.
Pamela uses an integrative therapeutic approach which allows her to draw on different types of therapy - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic, person-centred, and transactional analysis - to help clients explore their own unique experiences and challenges. Pamela undertakes regular supervision to maintain professional practice.
Pamela holds the COSCA Certificate in Counselling Skills and is currently working towards her Post-graduate Diploma in Relational Counselling. She is also a member of COSCA.
Pamela believes her maturity and life experience as a mother and business owner means she has genuine empathy with clients. I’ve have been married, I have been divorced. I know about stress in the workplace and the menopause. When clients are able to look at themselves and understand what’s going on and how they can change it, it’s very rewarding.
