Senior Counsellor

Who am I?
I would say I’m an intuitive person with a knack for connecting with and understanding people. My loved ones would describe me as a caring and compassionate person, a good listener and generally someone people know they could turn to. As a counsellor I offer my clients absolute acceptance from the get-go, a safe space where there is no judgment, and a friendly face who is here to listen. I consider it a real privilege to be able to connect with my clients and accompany them on their own path of self-discovery.

Her Approach

As a counsellor my approach is to be responsive and adaptive, and to offer each client their own tailored counselling experience. My training has been predominantly in CBT and for some clients this has been the best approach. For other clients I have adopted a more integrative approach with a focus on multiple therapies, in a way which is most effective for the client.

I have worked with people suffering from anxiety, panic attacks, depression, trauma, fertility/pregnancy and/or postpartum issues, stress, addictions, relationship struggles, and also those who are generally looking to make a change in their life.

Whatever situation you are facing, my aim is to put you at ease and offer a safe space where you will feel supported and listened to.

Experience and Training

Before counselling my background was in copywriting and editing. I worked in corporate communications for many years, and laterally in change management within a large organisation. My education and previous roles have always been centred around communication with people, but I wanted to take that passion a step further and decided to re-train as a Counsellor.

I hold the COSCA Counselling Skills Certificate and have completed the Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) this year.

I undertake regular Supervision to maintain and develop my professional practice.

Addiction

Why addiction affects us all

Fully four hundred years ago, the acclaimed poet John Donne wrote: ‘No man is an island’. Certainly, Donne’s’ piece from 1624 applies equally in modern times, but to rely solely on that as a response to the statement ‘Why addiction affects us all’ could be considered a little trite at least, but it does provide an interesting viewpoint from which to begin the discussion.
