Associate Couples Counsellor

Who am I?
The best word to describe me is 'curious' as I have a thirst for learning new things. This trait has taken me on a career journey where I have studied Interior Design, worked in the corporate world of business, as a Director in Building Consultancy to finally finding my calling which lies in Psychotherapy. Entering a therapeutic relationship with a client is where I feel I am my true authentic self.  Over the years, people have described me as a good listener, who encourages people to acknowledge their strengths and positive traits. When counselling, I offer a safe and confidential space to allow clients to share their issues and increase their self-awareness.

Her Approach

My approach to counselling is to ensure clients feel relaxed and comfortable in their first session to allow trust in the therapeutic relationship to build. My counselling sessions are client led, with a person-centred approach at its foundation. Through exploration, my aim is to actively listen to my clients by showing empathy and congruence which can allow them to increase their self-awareness to face life challenges and build strength and resilience.

Claire is trained in Integrative Therapy which covers modalities such as person centred, CBT, Transactional Analysis and Psychodynamics. Having a wide knowledge of different approaches to therapy allows Claire to select best fit strategies for each client depending on their presenting issue.

Experience and Training

Claire has a Certificate in Counselling Skills and is currently completing her Post Graduate Diploma in Relational Counselling. Claire is a member of COSCA.

Claire's life experiences have highlighted the significance of achieving a healthy work-life balance, which sparked her curiosity about mental health. As a mother navigating the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, she was inspired to pursue a Level 3 Certificate in Children and Young People's Mental Health. This educational journey equipped her with valuable knowledge, enabling her to better support her children during difficult times.
