What is coaching and what are its benefits?

In workplace, the pursuit of professional satisfaction needs self-reflection and continuous personal development. Coaching has emerged as a fundamental tool in facilitating growth, providing individuals with tailored support to navigate various aspects of their careers.

What is coaching?

Coaching and mentoring can sometimes be confused since both activities bring experience to the table and are ways of supporting professional development. People often give little thought to their true meaning and often used the terms interchangeably.

Mentoring this involves someone with experience in a specific skill or technical knowhow sharing that with someone less accomplished. The mentor could be someone more senior in your organisation, a colleague at the same level as the mentee or perhaps someone outside your own company but in the same industry who is willing to support. The mentor will explain how to achieve things and provide guidance.

Coaching here the aim is to help you to find ways to develop yourself. The coach’s role is more of a facilitation than guidance role. The coach uses powerful and empathic questioning that allows you to reflect, stand back from doing and see different perspectives and possibilities on immediate issues but hopefully also carries those alternative ways of thinking into solving future challenges both in and out of the workplace. The coach has no need to bean expert in the topic that the you as the coachee is trying to solve.

What is the benefit of business coaching?

Business coaching gives you a safe space to explore, with the guidance of your coach, your career challenges, unblock barriers and empowers you to find your own solutions. Often the real issue is not actually the first one you think of. They will use careful questioning to help you unpick the problem and finds steps towards a solution or in some cases acceptance of the situation you are working on.

I want to help you become fulfilled, autonomous and able to think through dilemmas and problems by using some self-analysis and self -awareness.

What sorts of things would coaching help with?

BuildingPersonal Brand:

Crafting a distinct personal brand can be important for individuals looking to differentiate themselves or overcome unhelpful beliefs. Coaching can help you uncover your unique attributes, values, and competencies. Through this introspective exercise, coached individuals are equipped to articulate and refine their personal brand, aligning it closely with their career aims.Consequently, they cultivate a coherent professional identity, fostering credibility and recognition.

Defining Goals:

Ambiguity surrounding career objectives or individual projects can impede progress and deter individuals from realising their full potential. Coaching can aid clarity and focus. Coaching will help you distil short-term and long-term aspirations, devising actionable plans to reach them.

Addiction

Why addiction affects us all

Fully four hundred years ago, the acclaimed poet John Donne wrote: ‘No man is an island’. Certainly, Donne’s’ piece from 1624 applies equally in modern times, but to rely solely on that as a response to the statement ‘Why addiction affects us all’ could be considered a little trite at least, but it does provide an interesting viewpoint from which to begin the discussion.
